Long Family Eye Care October Newsletter Fall is here once again October 2005 If you read last month's email I sent out, then you know that we have started a new program to reward patients who refer friends and family to our office. Well, we have our first monthly "referral drawing" winner! This wonderfully awesome patient will be receiving a $25.00 gift card to Texas Roadhouse. Dr. Angie and I would like to thank everyone that refers patients to our office. Along with keeping you as a patient, it really means a lot to us. Thank you and please read on for more. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ in this issue * Sailing Off! * The future of contact lenses * Color blindness ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The future of contact lenses I don't have a crystal ball like this guy, but I know his eyes would look and feel a whole lot better if he were wearing a new pair of silicone hydrogel contact lenses! Dr. Angie and I feel that this new, more breathable material is the future of contact lenses. It comes in spherical and toric disposables and there are other modalities, like bifocals, on the way. We should have already offered them to you, but if not, send an email or ask about them the next time you are in. And one last thing, be sure to use the solutions we recommend. Some are more compatible with these new lenses than others! In my very first newsletter a few years ago, this was the most popular link. Now, with so many new subscribers, I thought I would bring it back. Dr. Angie and I see a lot of color deficient boys and can count on one hand the number of girls we've seen. The doctors and staff at Long Family Eye Care would like to announce Dr. Ken VanderZeyde's retirement (I know..."isn't he too young?"). He will be seeing patients in our office for the last time the week of November 14th and we will be having an open house from 4:00 to 6:00 on Friday November 18th. We're pretty sure about the date and time above, but our office will be mailing out announcements with more specifics regarding the open house. For those of you who didn't know, Dr. VanderZeyde "semi-retired" and joined our practice in June of 1998. He's enjoyed seeing some loyal patients over the years while Dr. Angie and I have cared for many of his patients as they have transitioned over to us. p.s. we're trying to surprise him so don't tell him about the open house if you see him this month! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Quick Links...
