Also, Linda and Brandy have passed along some tips on computers and contact lenses they recently learned at the "Eyequest" continuing education seminar in Chicago. Neither one of them likes their picture taken...so I thought I'd post their pretty faces on the internet for all to see, they really are great! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ in this issue ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ * Adidas Eyewear * Linda's Tips for Computer Users * Brandy's Tips for Contact Lens Wearers * Annual Children's Vision Screening * Wanna Sleep Safely in Contacts? Adidas Eyewear ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Adidas sunglass line has been very popular in our office. There are several styles and they are extremely versatile. Many have interchangeable lenses, feature break-away saftey temples, and have 100% optically correct polycarbonate lenses. Most of the wraps have an attachable, adjustable strap for goggle-like performance, an optional sweat bar, and an optional clip-in for your prescription. The popular "Evil Eye" line has an 8 degree adjustable temple angle and they fit under all helmets. The selection of lens and frame colors, in all models, is exceptional. The Adidas line features models for running, biking, golf, and about any other sport you can think of! Of course, we carry several other sunglass makes and models with both casual and dressed-up looks. Adidas Eyewear Website.... >> http://www.adidas.com/eyewear/ Linda's Tips for Computer Users ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Of the 10 million computer users who sought eyewear, 40% selected computer glasses. Upon visiting their eye doctor, the most common complaints were eyestrain, fatigue, burning, red eyes, blurred vision during and after use, and double vision. Do any of these sound familiar? The average person blinks up to 20 times per minute. However, at the computer the average is only 7 blinks. This is the cause of most computer vision complaints. What can you do? Read on for the 3 B's... BREAK: Every 20 minutes take a 20 second break and look at least 20 feet away (20/20/20 rule). BLINK: Concentrate on taking more frequent and full blinks. BREATHE: Take regular, deep breaths. This is important to maintain good blood flow and alertness. Lastly, what types of glasses are available to help ease the symptoms of computer vision syndrome? *Single Vision: focused specifically for computer distance. *Bifocal: line height set higher than usual. *Trifocal: middle lens is deeper than normal. *Specialty Lenses: progressive, no-line designs. She does all of our contact lens insertion and removal training. Following are some helpful tips that she is passing along from her recent continuing education classes. For make-up wearers: *Replace your make-up every 3 months to help prevent pseudomonas keratitis, a potentially devastating corneal infection. *Avoid placing eyeliner at the back edge of the eyelids as this can plug the glands and cause infection. Regarding contact lens solutions: *Never allow a bottle to touch your eye or eyelid. It can contaminate the bottle and lead to an infection. *Do not "top-off" your solution in your case. Dump the old, rinse it out, and turn it over to dry. Then place fresh solution in at night with your contacts. Finally: *Replace your contact case every time you open a new bottle of solution. You wouldn't believe what is growing in there! *Lubricate your lenses a few minutes before removal. This will prevent cracks and other damage to the lenses. want more info on contact lenses? >> http://www.longfamilyeyecare.com/links.html Annual Children's Vision Screening ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In a couple of months it will be time again for our FREE children's vision screening.
